A studio built on listening
Our story
It started with a simple belief about homes
Maison Hearth is a solo interior design practice based in Hamilton, Ontario. The studio was founded on a simple idea. Homes should feel like the people who live in them.
Before starting the studio, I spent years working with firms that designed beautiful spaces for photographs. The rooms looked perfect in portfolios. They didn't always work for the families who lived in them. I wanted to do something different.
I moved to Hamilton because the city has character. The housing stock is interesting. Victorian row houses, mid-century bungalows, converted industrial lofts. Each one tells you something about the people who chose it.
I take on a small number of projects each year. That's intentional. Residential design requires attention. It requires understanding how someone actually uses their home. You can't do that if you're juggling too many clients at once.

Our approach
Homes should feel like the people who live in them
What we believe about design
Listening comes first
Before any design work begins, we want to understand how you actually use your home. We ask about your mornings, your weekends, what drives you crazy about your kitchen. The design follows from those conversations.
Homes are for living in
We don't design showrooms. We design spaces where kids can be loud, dogs can sprawl, and dinner guests feel comfortable. A beautiful room that nobody uses isn't good design.
Small practice, full attention
We take on a limited number of projects each year. That means your home gets the attention it deserves. We're not managing dozens of projects at once.
Honest about what works
We'll talk you out of something if we think it won't hold up. We'd rather you love your home in five years than be impressed for five minutes.
